A subset of the following: Leading weekly labs and attending TA meetings. Grading assignments and tests. Invigilating tests. Proofreading course materials. One-on-one tutoring of students working on programming exercises. Attending lectures to help with inverted activities. Holding office hours. Monitoring the online discussion board.
Strong knowledge of Java, including inheritance rules, generics, the Collections framework, and an understanding of the Java memory model. Broad knowledge of design patterns. Experience with software design using CRC cards or equivalent. Experience using current software engineering best practices (including code reviews, unit testing, TDD, and version control -- git strongly preferred), such as by completing CSC301 or having professional programming experience. Enthusiasm for teaching. Must already have, or be enrolled in, a computer science degree (or equivalent). Professional programming experience a plus. TAs should have some availability Tuesday-Thursday, 3:00pm - 8:00 pm for office hours and marking.
